All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

The cover of Hit Break Bleed was inspired by antique photo processes. Specifically hand tinted ambrotype on ruby glass. The cover image is a work of fiction and is made by traditional and digital means using Photoshop. It’s true our site is rooted in non digital images but Photoshop is the glue that holds this image together. The book reads so fast and stories are both beautiful and brutal. I used a busted up face of a street fighter for the color palette. I wanted to give the cover the look and feel of a bruise or a black eye on the mend.
We participated in World Wet Plate Day again this year. We worked with model and ballet dancer Nicole Bell. We battled the wind and contamination problems early on but we did produce 3 images for the day. We also used our custom made studio stand for 14″x14″ camera.
